Stochastic Expansion Planning of Various Energy Storage Technologies in Active Power Distribution Networks

This work aims to minimize the cost of installing renewable energy resources (photovoltaic systems) as well storage systems (batteries), in addition operation over a period 20 years, which will include operating power grid and charging discharging batteries. To this end, we propose long-term planning optimization expansion framework for smart distribution network. A second order cone programming (SOCP) algorithm is utilized model flow equations. The minimization computed accordance years (y), seasons (s), days week (d), time day (t), different scenarios based on usage its production (c). An IEEE 33-bus balanced test bench evaluate performance, effectiveness, reliability proposed forecasting model. numerical studies are conducted two highest performing batteries current market, i.e., Lithium-ion (Li-ion) redox (RFBs). In addition, pros cons distributed Li-ion compared with centralized RFBs. results presented showcase economic profits utilizing these battery technologies.
